Insufficient light for sows causes many harms. What kind of lamp should be used to increase light fo
In actual breeding, most of the pens are closed, or the pens are not constructed properly, resulting in too little sunlight and the sows receive too little light. In this case, farmers need to supplement the light for the sows, then how to supplement light for sows?

1. Choose lighting
We can choose to supplement the light for sows with incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps or LED lamps, etc. However, supplementary lighting for sows should best simulate natural light. Pig farmers usually choose LED lamps as light sources. LED lamps are energy-saving, long-lasting, high brightness. It is the most common choice.
In addition to lights, we also need to buy a photometer to measure the light intensity. After all, strong light is not good for the eyes and physiology of sows. The brightness and color temperature of the light are suitable for the growth and reproduction needs of sows.

2. Lighting needs of sows
Sows at different stages have different needs for light. In the backup stage, the required light time is no less than 16 hours and the light intensity is about 200 lux. This is conducive to the normal development of the reproductive system of the replacement sows and improves the growth rate of the sows. Utilization rate of replacement pigs; for multiparous sows and boars, keep the light intensity at 150 lux for about 10-12 hours. Especially for boars, too long light time may damage the semen quality, so generally it should not exceed 12 hours.  Pregnant sows need a darker environment to ensure the normal development of the fetus and the sow's rest; lactating sows need a brighter environment to stimulate milk secretion and the growth and development of piglets.

3. Lighting installation
When we install lights, it is best to have a practical overall design, such as automatic sunlight control, energy-saving system layout, etc. The intensity and brightness of natural sunlight in different time periods are different. The lighting in the pig house It must also be adjustable, and the installation position and angle of the light must also be considered to prevent the light from directly shining into the sow's eyes, causing discomfort and visual damage.
