African swine fever breaks out in Albania for the first time, two wild boars become sick and die
According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), on February 26, 2024, the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported to W0AH that an African swine fever epidemic occurred in Albania.
The epidemic occurred in Hass City, Cooks County, and was confirmed on February 10, 2024. The source of the epidemic is unknown or uncertain. Laboratory tests found that two wild boars became ill and died.
The epidemic is still continuing, and the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will submit follow-up reports on a weekly basis.
