The function of regulating body temperature of piglets is not perfect, and their ability to respond to cold stress is poor. Newborn piglets are in an environment of 13-24℃, and their body temperature drops by more than 1.7℃ in one hour of living. Piglets have sparse hair, little subcutaneous fat, and low cold resistance. For this reason, piglets must be well insulated in winter. At present, there are generally five types of measures to keep piglets warm:


1. Thickened padding
 Thickened litter is a traditional insulation method and is mostly used in household pig raising. The method is: lay 10 cm thick bedding on the first day, and add 10-20 cm thick bedding on the second day, so that the thickness of the bedding reaches 30-40 cm, and nail the grass retaining board on the outside to prevent the bedding from scattering. When the house temperature is 10-15℃, the temperature of the bedding can reach over 21℃. This method is economical and easy to implement, saves labor and grass (bedding), and is both heat-insulating and moisture-proof. When using this method, the bedding should be replaced in time, add dry and fresh bedding, and keep the pen dry.

2. Fire source heating
 There are two types of flues: flues and charcoal stoves. There are two types of flues: above-ground flues and underground flues. When using coal and other fuels for heating, no matter which heating method is used, in addition to preventing fires, harmful gases in the pens should also be eliminated in time to prevent poisoning.

3. Infrared heat preservation lamp
 At present, infrared heat preservation lamps are widely used. The method is: use infrared light bulbs to hang on the guard frame where the piglets lie or in the heat preservation room to keep the piglets warm, and the hanging height of the infrared heat preservation lamp can be adjusted at any time according to the temperature required by the piglets. This method has simple equipment, good heat preservation effect, and can prevent and treat skin diseases. If wooden fences or iron fences are used as partition walls, two litters of piglets cannot share an infrared heat preservation lamp.

4. Piglet insulation board
 The surface temperature of the electric constant temperature heating plate is 26-32℃. The product has a reasonable structure, is safe and saves electricity, is easy to use, has flexible temperature adjustment and accurate constant temperature, and is suitable for large factory pig farms.

5. Far infrared heating piglet incubator
 The size of the insulated box is 100 cm long, 60 cm high, and 50-60 cm wide. A far-infrared heating plate is used to connect a controllable temperature element and is placed flat on the lid of the box. The temperature of the incubator is adjusted according to the age of the piglets. To facilitate disinfection and cleaning, the box cover can be removed and the box material is made of waterproof material.
