Russia completed last year's entire supply to China in three months
Dankvert, director of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, told reporters that Russia has supplied 5,400 tons of pork and 6,200 tons of pork by-products to China since the beginning of the year.
Dankvert said at a press conference: "If we refer to last year's data, the supply as of March 21 last year was 0, because there was no supply at that time. This year (exports to China-Editor's note) only 5,400 tons of pork were exported, and 6,200 tons of pork by-products. That is to say, we supplied 11,000 tons of products in 3 months."

He pointed out that pork exports to Hong Kong also increased to 3,400 tons. Dankvert also said that if the export volume to Hong Kong is added, the pork export volume to China is nearly 9,000 tons.

He emphasized that as of March 21, Russia's total pork exports were 60,500 tons, compared with 32,000 tons in the same period last year.

It is reported that China lifted the temporary import restrictions on Russian pork imposed in 2023 due to African swine fever since 2008. The first three Russian companies have been approved to export pork to China from February 28, 2024.
