International animal epidemic dynamics of the week: 83 cases of African swine fever in wild boars oc
According to the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on October 21, 2024, from October 14 to 18, 2024, a total of 103 African swine fever outbreaks occurred in five countries, of which 9 were domestic pigs infected with the African swine fever virus, accounting for 8.7%; among them, 83 wild boar African swine fever outbreaks occurred in Poland, and 93 wild boars were infected and died.

The specific situation is as follows:
1. 7 cases of African swine fever in wild boars occurred in Hungary 
On October 16, Hungary reported 7 cases of African swine fever in wild boars in 2 places including Pest, and 8 wild boars were infected and died.
2. 1 case of African swine fever in domestic pigs occurred in Ukraine
On October 16, Ukraine reported 1 case of African swine fever in domestic pigs in Vinnytsia Province, 2 domestic pigs were infected, 1 died, and 38 were killed.
3. 1 case of African swine fever in wild boars occurred in the Czech Republic
On October 17, the Czech Republic reported 1 case of African swine fever in wild boars in Libetsk Province, and 1 wild boar was infected and died.
4. 83 cases of African swine fever in wild boars occurred in Poland 
On October 18, Poland reported 83 cases of African swine fever in wild boars in 6 places including West Pomeranian Province, and 93 wild boars were infected and died. 
5. Romania reported 3 cases of African swine fever in wild boars and 8 cases of African swine fever in domestic pigs
On October 18, Romania reported 3 cases of African swine fever in wild boars and 8 cases of African swine fever in 6 places including Seraj County. 3 wild boars died of infection, 24,000 domestic pigs were infected, 90 died, and 22 were culled.
