Swine fever found in Germany, 3,500 pigs to be culled
On June 6, local time, the German official agency FLI confirmed that African swine fever was found in a fattening pig farm, and all 3,500 pigs in the farm will be culled.

The pig farm is located in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany. This case of infection is the first case in the state and the ninth pig farm infection in Germany. The pig farm is only 20 kilometers away from the German-Polish border, but the source of infection is still unclear, but according to FLI, no infected wild boars were found around.

This is the first outbreak report of domestic pigs in Germany since February 2023. The local government has taken emergency measures to set up a 3-kilometer protection zone and a 10-kilometer surveillance zone to control the spread of the epidemic. The German government has been trying to limit the spread of the ASF virus in the country by controlling the number of wild boars, but due to the large number of wild boars, it is difficult to control.
